  2. That's just not true. There are millions (probably billions) of people who use legal and illegal mood and mind altering substances on a daily basis. You only hear about the ones who are out of control because functioning users don't make for scary news broadcasts.

  4.  @pointblank0020  For the "millons (if not billions)" part? It's obvious to anyone who pays attention to this subject. But if you need something official, okay-- UNODC World Drug Report 2022, Vienna, 27 June 2022 - "According to the report, around 284 million people aged 15-64 used [licit}] drugs worldwide in 2020" - which doesn't include users under 15 or over 64 so surely at lest 300 million illicit drug users. And for alcohol the World Health Organization report from 21 Sept, 2018 notes "An estimated 2.3 billion people are current drinkers." A bit of basic addition and we have a total of over 2.5 billion users of illicit drugs and alcohol. Even if every illicit drug user was also using alcohol my original number stands. And that doesn't include the people using prescription medication with mood or mind altering effects or commonly available substance like caffeine and nicotine.
