I can't speak to his heart, but it's an old tactic to keep women and children around you to act as a human shield and possibly give some pause to the people attacking you.

Except there are many people who would argue that the FBI and ATF raids at Ruby Ridge and Waco would be at least similar to what happened in Syria. Regardless of whether it's a foreign or domestic stage, when the US govt asserts its authoritah no lives matter.

@football5964 Nice to see I'm not alone out here. Saying jihadists don't martyr themselves with explosives is like saying the Japanese didn't commit kamikaze attacks during the second world war. Since none of us were there none of us can really know exactly what happened, but it is absolutely reasonable to believe that this IS leader martyred himself and his family to avoid an imminent capture by the US SOG forces.
