  1. It's the Y'all Qaeda movement. They preach hate based on religion and are very jingoistic, driving around in trucks festooned with flags flying like we see militants and terrorists doing in African and Middle Eastern countries. Doesn't matter the franchise, the religious fundamentalism is the key element and generally the same everywhere.

  3. You give Republicans too much credit. How did they react after Matthew Shepard was beaten and stoned to death? You can look to the behavior of Republicans in the state of Wyoming and later at federal level under the Bush Administration where they stonewalled legislation to include crimes against a person due to their sexual orientation as hate crimes. Even when it was finally passed into law under Obama in 2010 (so about ten years ago) there was still opposition from Republicans.
