@carycunningham9510 They do have a registry, but more than that they have serious firearms laws and regulations for private citizens to legally own one. The authorization and credentialing process is pretty intense and the average person doesn't have either the number of guns or the variety that people in the US have. Legally, people will have only one or possibly a few fairly basic types of handgun or rifle and very rarely what we would think of as military styled or pretty much any high capacity, high rate of fire firearm. For example, Israel still sells the Uzi to governments, but not to its own citizens unless they have permits as security guards. Mind you, estimates are that they also have over 200 thousand illegally owned firearms of various sorts and for various reasons so there's that. Interesting subject - thank you for the impetus to do a surface scan of the topic.

@carycunningham9510 It's estimated that there are also hundreds of thousands of unregistered firearms there (mostly handguns). So that combined with the limits on what kinds of small arms can legally be owned in Israel, the registry probably doesn't matter that much.
