Right? It's the same old song and dance of social strife and struggle we've been dealing with forever. Regardless of the system, the society is always ruled by a small few with the wealth and resources and who have some variety of control mechanisms over the larger population that they use at their discretion to try and maintain their dominant position for as long as possible. As long as the masses don't get out of hand the glove stays soft, but if we get out of hand the gloves come off. Or as Mel Brooks put it -- "It's good to be the King."
