I see a lot of comments on here that remind me of the people who used to get all pissed off about smarty pants scientist and meddling doctors telling them that cigarettes weren't healthy and people should stop smoking. Saying things like cigarettes never killed anyone - it was cancer. You all are absolutely right, Climate Change didn't start the fires. In many, maybe even most cases it was deliberate or accidently caused by us. But Climate change doesn't cause any of the fires, storms, floods or droughts - it makes them worse. There have absolutely always been these natural disasters and some of them have been just as bad as what we've seen these last few years. But in general the storms and droughts are being intensified by the warming that we are helping speed up. What might have happened every hundred years will start happening every twenty, ten, or two to three years. We also need to be smarter at managing the lands and this is a point where liberals need to back off. In some places where the people whose ancestors have been living in Australia long before European colonizers came and who practice the same land management as those ancestors with small, controlled burns to clear out the dry undergrowth have avoided the same loses that so many others have gone through. But you all go ahead - smoke up, Johnny! Cigarettes never killed no one.

  2.  @yarpos  Not a false equivalence. The same tactics by the same denial machine being used to try and achieve the same goals. Maybe not a perfect repetition but it rhymes real close. You sound like one of those people trying to make it sound like there is a debate about this subject when there isn't one anymore among the people who actually know what is happening. That's not even clever, just sad. I think I'll go ahead and set you to ignore since you're just blowing smoke and I don't need to hear anything else to recognize your game.
