  18. 5:00 - I'm sick of this tired line about how a clinical psychologist can't diagnose a personality disorder in someone without meeting them first when it's someone who lives their life so completely in the public eye as celebrities and public figures on reality television, politics, and social media. I could point to a few other people that exemplify this, but old Bankrupt Donny is probably the most easily diagnosed individual on the planet with all of his damage and disorders being rubbed in our faces like a puppy's mess on an expensive rug. We all know the emperor has no clothes - mental health professionals need to stop pretending like they can't say professionally what's obvious to the rest of us.

Most of the Veterans I've known and met are pretty Conservative so they generally don't feel comfortable around liberal Democrats - especially the more extreme wing of the party that does express an intolerance for "the War Machine", of which veterans are an intrinsic part, or denigrate military service in one way or another. It's easy to say the right thing the wrong way or just say the wrong thing all together. The thing is, these are also the same people would have been conservative and identified with the Republican party regardless of their profession. Consequently there is less chance for most Democrats, especially the more hard-left, to get to interact with vets. Stupid binary ideologies! Left/Right - Liberal/Conservative. What is it going to take to make people understand that we have more than one choice or the other?

One can be bigoted about many things like religion or politics or a group of people that share a physical, mental or emotional trait or characteristic. If that thing is race than than bigotry is racial and we end up with the term Racism meaning racially biased bigotry. If you want to excuse your racism find some other reason or better yet, own your ugly.

The only thing embarassing was her calling in and trying to argue this losing proposition with David when she doesn't know his own ethnicity and the history of those people. Words matter, C. We should all make sure to use them correctly.

  24. Anyone who runs doesn't need to run against Trump - I think we've pretty much all picked sides on that subject. Anyone who says they are undecided is either lying or irrelevant. What who ever wins the nomination has to do is convince people to not to stay home in 2020. I'm hoping for a Sanders/Gabbard ticket - or better yet Gabbard/Sanders.

  26.  @MOME914  then they need to develop a better argument or refine the line of thinking because there are plenty of White Anglo-Saxon Protestant families that have the same racial bias towards the Irish, Italians, Poles and other caucasian ethnicities. There is a power imbalance in the world but it's between the haves and the have nots and that's a problem of class struggle not racial inequity. We have language for all of this already which is one reason why it's a bad idea to try and redefine words like racism that are already fully loaded with meaning and misconception.

  27. I've had this idea too but it won't work. The problem is that while the rest of us might be happy with that arrangement, they never would be. Pretty soon some stain would be agitating that they need more room or resources and crying about their dignity being infringed upon and a manifest destiny or some other foolishness and the next thing you know the assholes have started a border war. No, the stupid one third of our population needs the rest of us to at least try and keep them from inflicting their damage on everyone else.

All of these groups may have less racism practiced against them then people who are Native, black, hispanic, or asian, but none of these people are considered "white" by the same people who are also racist towards non-caucasian groups. Trying to change the definition of a word to make it fit your narrative is a dangerous thing and it will backfire on you.

  31. If you live where the jobs are the cost of housing is a big problem. But when we look at public housing there is often a lot of crime and social dysfunction in those neighborhoods. The poor have always been used and abused by predators and left behind by the more upwardly mobile. There are solutions like UBI and taking the profits out of our basic needs like secure housing, healthy food and clean water and healthcare but the status quo capitalist propaganda acts like the only solution is one where someone profits off of people's pain and suffering. Capitalism is fine for entertainment and luxury goods, but not for meeting those things we find on Maslow's Basic needs category. As long as ones wealth is the primary measure of success in our society nothing will change.

I'm guessing so you can avoid being responsible for or paying for any of the benefits being a full-time employee brings, but that's because I'm a cynical asshole. I guess this hypothetical business owner doesn't have to worry about how people making around 600 to 900 dollars a month (after 25% is taken out for taxes - you're not paying them off the books are you?) will pay for health insurance or any of the other expenses of life and they should all be grateful for the scraps you can thrown them. Or are these just supposed to be supplementary forms of income to some other job in your town of 200 people? You see, you're basically justifying the minor exploitation of three people in order to avoid doing right by any of them. That's shit thing to do people and is the kind of business that decimates communities and leaves them with a population base of 200 people. And another town bites the dust as the kids move away as quickly as they can to better jobs and more exciting lives in the cities. Drug dealers and meth cooks and criminals move into the abandoned homes of dead people with no relatives to take care of the mostly worthless property in a largely abandoned town, all armed to the teeth. No worries though, big ag corps will eventually be given the fallow land to grow GMO crops to feed the big cities and exploding world population once all you rural folk die off and get murdered to death by roving bands of marauding Mobile Homeless. ("The Mobile Homeless" might be a new term - if so DIBS! We're going to see a hell of a lot more of it as rent keeps going up)

It was easier for the ruling powers to control and drive the narrative back in the pre-Internet/cell-phone era when we were all isolated, but everything is connected now - for better and worse.
