I keep letting people in and sooner or later it usually doesn't go very well and I end up on my own again. I have had a few amazing friends and hope to have a few more before I'm done, but I'm okay with being alone too. And as I have no children I expect, even somewhat hope, that is how I will spend my final years. In many ways, it is simply easier to enjoy the silence and the pleasure of my own company. The rest is often just noise and people struggling with their own neuroses. I have enough of my own I'm trying to keep in check thanks much.

@kirstinstrand6292 Love is tricky thing, but the one thing I've figured out is that we have to love ourselves first and sometimes it takes being alone to get there. Dogs (and for me cats) can be wonderful companions along that journey, but I hope you find someone to embrace life with who is someone you can share all the good and bad times ahead with together with love, respect, and humor. A little physical attraction doesn't hurt either. Sounds like you're on the right path, my friend. Stay strong!
