One of the problems with calling a peaceful protester a terrorist and trying to jail them for years or decades is that it doesn't leave any reason for the next protester to not to go ahead and be a terrorist. The response becomes one of "You want to call me a terrorist - you want to act like you are afraid of a non-violent act? Fine, I'll give you something to really be afraid of. Buckle up, planet-killers".
