  16. Bones are not digestible. The component that gives them their strength does not dissolve in water and does not react with hydrochloric acid particularly well ( plus the product of that would not dissolve in water that well. I don’t understand the details fully, but they don’t matter anyway )

  18.  @s1r_m3ga84  it’s exactly as i was suspecting: that’s not a bone… that’s either cartilage ( which can be hard, soft, yellowish white, blueish white, and anything in between; and is found at the end of a bone, or in some cases in place of a bone ) or a tendon ( which is grayish, connects bone to muscle, and can be found running parallel to a bone ). A few fish do actually have “skeletons” made completely of cartilage ( sharks, rays, skates, sawfish, chimaeras )

  19. i don't think that's what was implied. While you obviously shouldn't put it on your skin, inorganic mercury is significantly less toxic and also absorbs much less through the skin. This would likely not have ended like it did if the cream wasn't contaminated.

  20. The reports this is based on specify levels of around 900 ng/mL and upwards. The level in blood after taking a 20 mg dose is at it’s most -1.8 ng/mL, according to one of the articles. If you assume that scales linearly, the dose consumed in order to have 900 ng/mL in blood somehow happens to be exactly 10000 mg. However according to some charts in some of the articles, it seems to very much not scale linearly ( which makes sense ), with ~1000 mg resulting in a concentration of ~900 ng/ml. And 1000 mg “happens” to be 2 of the average of the bottles you talked about.

( also, the fact that 10000 mg is completely insane is obvious, i just included that to show how large the error can be if you just assume something, and I did to be honest not expect it to be over 3x )

  23. The case report is linked in the description, and that is evidence enough; obviously he needn’t be — and probably is not — a tiktoker as that is of no clinical significance whatsoever. It is linked amongst other very similar reports ( used for research ), and one of them no longer exists, and i have a suspicion that that one is the main report this is based on.

He said that these videos are of his own experiences, and of experiences of his colleagues, and i think I remember someone saying that his subspecialty is toxicology, so it would make sense that a lot of these are cases of poisoning, or something that could be suspected to be poisoning. And the electrolyte balance looks like a good target for disruption by foreign chemicals. ( I don’t know how much of what I just wrote makes sanse though )
