A GPS module requires more power ( thus less battery life or bigger device ), and is imprecise in urban environments due to the signals bouncing off of buildings ( this can be negated, but that adds additional power requirement ). That in addition to the weak signals easily being blocked by walls. So an AirTag does work better ( AirTags are still very overpriced, that hasn’t changed and will likely not change. There are some similar products though. The better option is to just lock your bike )
