  1. He doesn't because molecular coherence doesn't get lost during transport or they die. "Losing their pattern" doesn't mean they suddenly forgot the person's information, it refers to a loss of molecular coherence. Which is where the science fiction breaks down as the idea of converting someone to energy but none of the particles bonds being broken is even stranger than the idea of just downloading and copying (which is what most people think it the transporters do.)
