  1. Counterintuitively, you have to learn to use umm. If you never pick up the habit then it doesn't get put into your vocal process. Doesn't mean it's easy at all but maybe it can help you reduce your own waffling in conversation to realize it's a habit, not a necessity. I've been trying for years so hope you have better luck than me.
