This should be combined with the findings on evolution of flight and feathers, there is an abundance of evidence to show these dinos were using their weak wings and strong claws to rapidly climb up trees in the exact way immature birds do today and that was a primary driver of the evolution of flight feathers. Feathers that can help with windmilling and running up tree become flight feathers. Baby birds still climb this way before their full feathers come in.
