They backed down because the Iranian bombardment was effective, Hamas inflicted deep wounds and maintained their ability to operate, and Hezbollah held the line threatening even more damage, attrition, and further wounding strikes. Fascists may seem ignorant to the rules of logic but they are never ignorant to the rules of power. They are taking their Syria overthrow as victory and posturing. All they really want is people to look away so they can go back to doing it the quiet way.
