From what I understand it is an intentional tip to ensure it is clear of the parachute and upper part of the re entry casing.

@stephengnb I've done a little more looking into it, it's called the "backshell separation." I saw another nasa graphic that called it the "victory" roll. I believe the "Victory roll" is the one that refers to the diverting maneuver. Also, I found out that the rover swings around inside the entery vehicle like the ringer in a bell does, to stabilize and steer the re entry vehicle. The crazy angles of the tip are exactly that, it swings it back and forth and let's it go and then the sky crane stabilizes its horizontal velocity. It's a really complex maneuver and just a small part of the whole affair
