Will Costco's package of toilet paper and paper towels fit in the trunk?
7
What happens if while you're driving and you accidentally press the START/STOP button?
4
The turning radius is still bad (it's the same as my 2014 Toyota Highlander). Finally, Apple Carplay.
4
I test drove the LC 500 today and I can tell you that for $100k and 4 seats, I was NOT impressed. Why? 1) Poor resale value 2) No sunroof 3) I hate the Lexus computer Automatic Trans shifter because it physically does not move. Also to park, you have to visually find the P button in the console. Then to put it into drive, I can't feel the D, I have to visually see on the dash that I moved it into P and it's a weird movement in which I have to move the lever left then move it down. 4) No Apple Carplay. 5) If you're gonna have 4 seats, my head should not be hitting the back window. PRO: I did like how you can turn the ceiling lights on/off by waving your hand in front of it so you don't have to look for the buttons in the dark. The gauge cluster moving left/right is cool.
4
I test drove this car and I loved it BUT it's expensive at $80k. I like the instant torque, so there's no turbo lag. No range anxiety like an EV nor cumbersome plug and unplug charging every day. I loved the beautiful glass shifter.
3
omg, slow as hell. Lost my respect. Bring back Lauren! Brembo brakes is an American staple? What an idiot.
3
fugly front grille, just a BIG RECTANGULAR hole. I don't like the vertical crease line from the front bumper going up the hood.
3
I test drove one today. Missing sunglass holder near the rearview mirror, whereas my 2014 Toyota Highlander has it.
3
I test drove it but I found it too boring (timid exhaust, heavy body, ok acceleration). At least it has a sunroof and no turbo lag.
3
No TAX credits! If the rich can afford a Tesla, then pay for it themselves. I don't understand why I have to pay and subsidize the rich. I am well off but I have no intentions of buying an electric car for another decade (or until every gas station can refuel an EV and in 6 minutes which is the same time as a gas car, and insurance premium for an EV comes down to the same as a gas car).
3
This guy is HORRIBLE, I thought Lauren was going to be the host.
3
I agree of the possible health risks with EV cars and electrocution.
2
Toyota and Lexus refuse to have Apple Carplay so I refuse to be a longtime Toyota customer anymore. 6 months ago, I bought my first American car...Corvette as an additional car. American cars have become so good that I will drop Toyota from my shopping list because there's no Apple Carplay.
2
I agree, a key is so outdated just like in Porsches. Great review and welcome back.
2
I test drove the Audi TT, while it was fun, it was only half the fun of a Corvette C7 with stick at the same price.
2
it's NOT a Toyota. A Lotus Evora 400 is more of a Toyota, using a Toyota motor and transmission.
2
Who's stupid enough to be the next CEO when Japan can turn against that new CEO too?
2
I just got back from Baja California in Mexico yesterday and I drove a suv with seven 18 year old boys back with me. NOBODY down there cares about the Corona virus. Hell, I even forgot to take the extra roll of hotel toilet paper with me home.
2
Nice interior, not plain ugly and ergonomic issues using a screen for everything like Tesla's.
2
Great points about: - usb is way in the back which is not good for a radar detector - water bottle blocking radio/ac buttons I also hate stick shift cars that have water bottles that block my elbow.
2
Exterior now looks acceptable, but still not beautiful like Mercedes.
2
Finally, get rid of the Nissan 370z with its awful stick and clutch.
2
Sadly, the Hyundai Genesis performs and looks better inside and outside...and I don't even like Hyundai.
2
No, EV are a niche toy. EV are not practical (infrastructure can't refuel at every intersection or refuel in 5 minutes like ICE car), or fun (engine audio, rumbling, engagement of a manual transmission), or safe (autopilot fatal crashes, lithium battery overheat like my smartphone and cause fire, fires reignite hours later), or have any resale value once the value depreciates down to the cost of a new battery. I don't want to deal with plugging in and unplugging my car like my smartphone every day. I don't want to plan my itinerary and check my fuel before I hit the road, I just want to pull into the next fuel station at the next intersection and refuel in 5 minutes.
2
Lexus=luxury. Mercedes=opulent
2
@carcoachreports: France gas stations are far and few in between, if they're even open, and if your credit card feels like working that day, so the 45mpg was awesome.
2
WOW, I've never liked trucks until now.
2
What's the 0-60mph time? The video didn't mention it.
2
@CarCoachReports Thanks. That's now slower than my 2014 Toyota Highlander at 7.2 seconds.
2
There needs to be a law that prioritizes lithium for smartphones over electric cars because cars have petroleum and hydrogen alternatives.
2
Good riddence. Nissan fucked me over with its reliability, and when I called customer service they didn't care if I bought another Nissan in the future. Car Kharma!
2
cvt=no sale for me.
2
Tesla $35k version with the short range battery will not sell. Less wealthy people live farther from their jobs so they are the ones who actually need a bigger battery more than a person who earns more and lives closer and gets to telecommute.
2
go ahead, Hyundai name just doesn't cut it for me.
2
Holy fat ass 5060 lbs, I wonder what its numbers are for lateral G handling and 60-0 mph stopping distance. I love everything else about it except the price and 20 minutes charging is still too long, need to get it down to 5 minutes like ICE cars.
2
I test drove both the Toyota and Mustang and Camaro v4; the Camaro was the fastest and didn't feel like a kid's car.
2
lol, in the Southwest and LA here, it's kids with the FRS and BRZ.
2
I DON'T WANT an electric car until it's convenient like an ICE car: 1) infrastructure is in place that I can refuel at every gas station 2) recharges in 5 minutes. 3) safe battery as ICE car 4) lithium battery waste
2
I test drove it yesterday. When I accelerated up a ramp to 80 mph then let go of the gas to coast, weird why it took a while before the rpm dropped. Hard acceleration 0-30 mph it couldn't figure out which gear to be in.
2
It's so boring that for every 500 Camry you see on the road, you'd see 1 Mazda 6.
2
Honda Civic is like a McDonald's hamburger, it's #1 selling but it's not #1 quality, there are many other way tastier burgers. I owned a civic in college in the late 1980s but it's a college kid's starter car; after you graduate when you're older and have more money, you want something nicer, faster, safer.
2
Good looking car but overpriced for a 2.0 liter engine. That model shown is $29k and no homelink available for a 2.0 engine. I repeat 2.0 engine. I paid $34k for a new toyota highlander xle model with v6 3.5 liter 275 horsepower which is 135 horses more or almost twice the power. Manual shift +/- are opposite positions compared to other cars. I also have an 8 year old 2008 Scion xB with a 2.4L engine that has more power at 160hp for $17k... that is $10k less than the Mazda.
1
When I drove one, the road noise on the fwy was noisy but the Toyota Camry was quiet.
1
Sorry guys, too much talking only without seeing the cars at the same time.
1
Does it have 1) side turn lights on the mirrors or front fenders 2) homelink garage door opener? I wished it was even shorter because 188 inches is just 3 inches shorter than my 2014 Toyota Highlander SUV with 3 rows. It should have been 175 inches or less to match Porsche Cayman.
1
I hope that the red color is cherry red for a sports car and not the ugly dark red.that is on sedans and trucks. This car is low which is great but that means it also needs auto dimming rearview mirrors. This is 2016, it also needs the homelink garage door opener. It also needs a backup camera to help when the top is down. Also missing is a Headsup display like in the Mazda 3. Mazda should offer a supercharger option. -------------- The front looks like an ugly catfish. The 2016 Mazda Mx-5's infotainment/navigation screen is ugly and looks like an aftermarket afterthought protruding out of the dashboard like a big wart. To do this right, they should have included the infotainment/navigation screen into the dashboard screen that currently has the RPM like Lamborghini Huracan. Plus, the navigation is only in the Touring model. ------------------- The exhaust note is nice but it could be better. Even the $22k Fiat 500 Abarth has the exotic exhaust note like its older brother Ferrari. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfQ73shGGoc Think I'll hold off on the 2016 Mazda for the 2017 Fiat 124 (same Mazda Mx-5 chasis) coming this fall.
1
The ride seems to be very rough because the camera keeps shaking when Lauren was driving.
1
Does the RF Club version come with homelink and autodimming rearview mirror?
1
My GREATEST concern is that Consumer Reports rated the 2015's reliability as half black circle (below average). My second concern is the high depreciation.
1
Needs a touchscreen so I don't have to take my eyes off the road and look down to find the controller.
1
Nice review. But the Lexus dealer said there's still no APPLE CARPLAY.
1
Work remotely from home.
1
Autonomous better in ideal weather and fwy. Forget about rain, snow, dark, etc. I have NO interest in autonomous in the city other than if I were driving on the fwy on a long trip in a rural area such as from one big city to another.
1
A battery manufacturer should sell to the highest payer. Ford, GM, and VW have deep pockets and they can pay more for the batteries and put Tesla out of business.
1
Elon musk said Tesla autopilot is decades away from being safe https://www.thestreet.com/investing/tesla-is-decades-away-from-full-self-driving-cars-14853271?puc=yahoo&cm_ven=YAHOO&yptr=yahoo
1
Still don't like how my right elbow hits the cupholder when driving stickshift.
1
When Tesla starts building cars in China, they'll have even more unreliable issues than they already currently have.
1
SUV...not another station wagon.
1
Finally, Lexus got rid of the ugly ewok ears on the sides of the gauge cluster.
1
I hope they got rid of the terrible turbo lag (felt like 2 seconds) in the 2019.
1
Toyota, Ugly bulky rear trunk lid that were on late 1990s BMW 7 series and Dodge products.
1
Holy shit 99.9% conviction rate in Japan....guess I don't ever want to visit Japan.
1
Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, VW......Nazi car makers during WWII for hitler.
1
As improved as the Geneis G70 is, I just can't buy one with a stigma of a poor person's car.
1
@CarCoachReports You're the prettiest car guy, and more knowledgeable than most car guys. Love your videos.
1
@CarCoachReports How would you feel if you were trying to find a physician or attorney and one drove a Hyundai and the other drove a Lexus/Mercedes? Which physician or attorney would you hire? A poor physician/attorney is more likely to take any case whether or not he/she is good in that area; is that who you want working for you?
1
@CarCoachReports OK, fair enough for that question of mine. But there's also the networking at social events with everyone from physicians, attorneys, realtors, entrepreneurs, investment bankers, stockbrokers, financial planners.
1
UGLY=hyundai smile, bmw teeth, porsche, tesla
1
Actually the Corvette's mpg is higher than what you said. I have a 2017 Corvette Stingray and it gets 36mpg on the fwy in ECO mode which deactivates half the cylinders when you're just cruising at 75mph and that's revving at just 1500 rpm barely breaking a sweat.
1
I sat in one yesterday. DIdn't like the 6 fake holes in the seat headrests (in addition to the 10 fake exterior vents). Outward visibility is terrible, the windshield's vertical height is so short between the dash cluster and ceiling, also short is the vertical height between the top of the infotainment screen and bottom of the rearview mirror.
1
fugly grille
1
Other reviewers are brown nosers. You're probably one of them all your life.
1
fugly
1
No, it doesn't have the marque. You won't see a physician or attorney own one.
1
Tesla screen has glitches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APgD9hVzBdA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUqKfRI3CrM You can't go to any repair shop, you ALSO can't go to any Tesla Test approved Repair shop, your insurance company will dictate a specific TESLA REPAIR shop that it will pay for; this means a very loooooooog wait time.
1
Holy camole $70k for 3.0 litre in a 5000lbs body.
1
Felt like I'm gonna get crushed by SUVs and trucks around me. Way way too much body roll. Tires squeal at the slightest turn. No backup camera (useful in the rain). No Apple Carplay. Cheap $1 sunvisor and it doesn't swing to the side. Lane change warning didn't work. Club model's suspension is so firm that I couldn't see objects in the rearview mirror. Front is ugly and looks like a catfish. 12V outlet for radar detector is hidden. Manual transmission is unreliable...google TSB.
1
Ugly aftermarket afterthought Costco iPad as the center console sticks up like a dash wart.
1
I don't drive in a steel car, my 2017 Corvette has an aluminum frame and the body panels are carbon fiber or composite.
1
I love it BUT it's slow 0-60mph in 6.6 seconds. Even the Toyota Camry's same engine gets going in 5.8 seconds.
1
BMW are fugly

I've just put in Red Line Water Wetter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CPI5ZK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

@seansean681 Why are you restricting your search to just compact class when you can get a midsize for the same price? 2 weeks ago, I bought a new 2019 Toyota Camry SE for my high school senior son. Camry costs the same as a Honda Civic (but the Civic is in the lower compact class that compares to the Toyota Corolla) but it's a midsize which has a better ride, crash scores, quietness, power, spaciousness, bigger wheels and tires (the only thing you'd lose is less mpg). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUXuSdSwJIg&t=84s I test drove the 2019 Honda Accord 2.0 turbo but it had terrible turbo lag, stiff ride, and a noisy interior. Reliability wise, it's worse because it has turbo and a CVT transmission. The 2019 Toyota Camry SE handles at an awesome .88G. I also dislike Honda's ugly stuck on ipad as the center console.
1
@242HP Sure. But my point is that it's not an aspirational car. A luxury/sports car (Mercedes, Cadillac, Corvette, Porsche, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari, etc.) is what I want in my later years, not a Honda civic.
1
What's a key?
1
You know a car's owner is Indian (from India) when it's a Honda with the nerd Basis school sticker. That's one big reason I don't want a Honda..
