To me, the longer range is NOT as important as the ability to refuel at every intersection and in 6 minutes like ICE cars. Until that happens, I seriously doubt EV will appeal to the mass market because it's VERY IMPRACTICAL for me to map out the distance of my itinerary before I go. When I was young, there were so many times on a Friday evening that my friends and I spontaneously decided to let's drive to Vegas, and we didn't have to map out the distance and look at how much fuel we have.

@siblilngs101 But when a tv breaks, I can live without it wheras if my car breaks, the consequence is worse because I can't go to work and earn money, I can't take kids to school, etc.

@ProAdi96 tires wear out quicker than ICE cars because batteries are 1000 lbs heavier and regenerative braking

@dasteknoviking Not if u tow it to the repair shop instead of to your house.

@seang4520 Range is only half the issue. It is charge time and the fact that it takes 1000x longer to charge a car than to simply put gas in it. What about emergencies too where you just started to charge you car but then you have to go somewhere? Tell the daycare or babysitter to please watch my kid longer while I wait for my car to charge. Or tell your 12 year old daughter to wait at the mall alone at 9pm until your car finishes charging so you can pick her up. Or tell your job interviewer to wait while you wait for your car to charge.

Just like how the wealthy today still ride horses for pleasure, the masses will use a car (more efficient and blah blah blah BUT sterile and boring). In the future, the wealthy will drive an ICE car for pleasure, while the masses will drive an EV (more efficient and blah blah blah BUT sterile and boring). It seems most people I know who aren't into cars want a tesla and it to drive them, therefore why bother buying a car when the public transportation metros that I took in Paris were way way more efficient and someone else drives them (and way way boring).

@seang4520 I can see owning a Tesla roadster 2 as a weekend toy (for the acceleration 0-60mph in claimed 1.9 seconds) and sexy body like the Corvette but not the other Teslas (model s/3/x) to be used as reliable transportation.

@500846 Unlike you gay EV fanboys, car enthusiasts enjoy the exhaust note of a Ferrari, Lambo, Jaguar F-Type, muscle car, over the boring silent EV. How exciting would movies be with an EV chase scene? Boring........... Just like how horses aren't as efficient and easy to use as ICE cars but the sound of a horse neighing is very cool.

@siblilngs101 Until you get to a charging station and have to wait for other cars ahead of you to finish, then add your charging time to the wait time.

@RussellFineArt That's because you haven't driven a Corvette with its big 6.2 litres enigne and 300 lbs torque right at 1000rpm which is instant power.
