No. turbo lag is not a good thing, unlike foreplay.

Cross-plane cranks give you tons of neck-snapping torque fun right off of idle at 1000rpm. My 2017 Corvette C7 also gives me 37 mpg on the fwy.
14
My 2017 Corvette with 460 hp and a manual transmission is even more fun than a hot hatch.

$50k AIN'T worth it.

Electric cars will be the future but not in private ownership. For urban, why bother even owning an electric car when you can use ridesharing or metro rail and not deal with parking...I realized this when I was in Paris 2 weeks ago. I mean, electric cars are boring (no exhaust note, no engine growl, no rumbling, no manual transmission), so if they're no fun then why bother owning one if they're just going to be an appliance to get you from A to B, even more when it's autonomous?

Automatic transmissions still haven't given me 10 times the fun of a manual transmission.

The styling is awesome. I was just at the Lexus dealer yesterday and saw it in person.

Just like ICE replaced horses for the masses, electric cars will replace ICE cars for the masses. But the older technology is more fun and that's why people still ride horses and it will be for the rich. Likewise, an ICE car with a manual transmission is more fun so people will still drive it but it will be for the rich. The masses will use electric cars as an appliance, just like the metro rail in Paris, just boring transportation to get from A to B.

@dylandetails361 Your 500hp cutoff really depends on the weight of the vehicle, quality of the transmission, tire size for grip, wheel size of unsprung weight and distance to the hub, how quickly (low rpm) will you get that torque so I get 300lbs of torque at 1000rpm (practically at idle), etc. So although the Corvette only has 460hp, its 0-60mph time of 3.7 seconds automatic or 3.8 seconds stickshift achieves around the same time against heavier 500hp vehicles.
2
@dylandetails361 Also depends on how quickly (low rpm) will you get that torque; my 2017 Corvette creates 300lbs of torque at 1000rpm (practically at idle)

@Prince: How will future movies with electric cars be any exciting without the engine sounds?? Let me see, it'll be hummmmm, hummmm, boy that's exciting....not.

C7 was already an aluminum frame with carbon fiber roof/hood and composite everywhere else.

@EngineeringExplained lol, a DCT is not a manual as the computer is shifting, not you, it's like playing a video game; you can't modulate the inputs and you're only using half your limbs. I'm keeping my C7 manual transmission for 3 pedal engagement fun when I get a C8 (world's 1st car <$60k with a GPS lift kit).
2
My base 2017 Corvette Stingray with manual transmission stops from 60-0 mph in 90 ft. The Corvette ZR1 stops in 88 ft. American Engineering.

Too bad it STILL doesn't have a backup camera when every other $20k car on the road has it. They'll be mandated in the U.S. in 2018.
1
Great explanation. Now I know why it needs so much oil. Thanks.

Germans can't get as much torque as a Corvette at 1000 rpm as soon as you step on the gas pedal, and no turbo lag like the Germans.
1
After 4, it's 2 out+4 in together to minimize jerkiness. Then 5.

In a future video, I'd like to hear your thoughts between a BRZ and the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata coming this summer.

The S2000 has similar dimensions to the 2017 Fiat 124 so what do you think of a comparison between the two? When the Abarth version of the Fiat 124 arrives, I'd like to see you do a review between it and the S2000. I noticed that the Fiat has a smaller 31 feet turning radius versus the S2000 35.4.

But the gumout test u did was 100% concentrated; how effective would it be when it's diluated with gasoline and only makes up _% of the liquid?
1
Bad drivers follow too closely and rear-end others. Good thing the insurance rates will go up for these bad drivers.
1
Bad, more unsprung weight means 4x of sprung weight.
1
I test drove a Club with Brembo/bilstein shocks and the rearview mirror shook a lot on city streets and the fwy. QUESTION: would a Club without Bilstein shocks give a more comfortable ride so that the rearview mirror doesn't shake?
1
I LOVE that it has a rear sensor that flashes the brake light if someone is about to rear-end you. Love it! Is there an aftermaket product that will do this for my old vehicle?

How Tesla can't stop 60-0mph in the low 90ft like supercars.
1
It's a Chevy so it's going to be inexpensive.
1
And there are hundreds of not thousands of Chevy dealers across the country to service it as you tour America..
1
Best engines? Huh? So why are VW engines so unreliable?
1
Think your cellphone emits radiation? That's nothing compared to you sitting on batteries in electric cars. Future research may show that electric car owners become sterile/infertile because of radiation from sitting on all those batteries.
1
The jerk and instant torque are exactly why I love my C7 Corvette with stickshift, with 300 lbs of torque off of idle.
1
What does it matter if the end result is the Corvette is faster than any car at the same price? U lose, u lose.
1
Like you said...manual is more enjoyable. Who cares if it's barely slower when it's 10 times more fun!

Kia stigma

K&N makes more noise, lets more dirt in. see how long your engine lasts!!! You won't feel the difference in more power.
1
@DanUtley Most people live in urban or suburbs and there aren't twisties to have fun. But there sure are a lot of fwy on ramps, straight streets and stop lights to have fun , in which power is king.
1
Doesn't matter for a $60k rear midengine, DCT, under 3 seconds, GPS lift kit, targa top.
1
I was in Paris in June 2 months ago and practically every car was a stickshift, even my rental Renault grand scenic minivan. But when I came to Belgium, many tourists from England brought in their big SUVs and station wagons with automatics.

1
On the flip side, so does that mean that a lighter flywheel will get you going faster BUT it's not going to have as smooth torque (a higher bump in the torque line)?
1
..,Tesla Model X and Y look like an egg on wheels. .Unlike Tesla, Rivian's customers can get the $7500 federal tax credit. .Tesla is a sinking ship. Tesla is now selling to rental car companies like Hertz which is the worst place to be because that is the LOWEST margin. And people don't want to buy cars that are part of rental fleets. Tesla second to last in Consumer Reports reliability study.
1
lol, that's so 20 years out of date.
1
$100k versus $130k is $600 more in monthly payments so it's not an easy "might as well go with the zr1".
1
Gotta pay (for better tires) to play.
