  1. There are a few issues before the adoption of electric car goes mainstream : 1. Cost of acquisition is still higher than gas powered car (Toyota Camry at $18k-$25k). 2. Electric charging station infrastructure 3. Time to recharge the battery in 6 minutes like ICE cars.? 4. Resale value: People junk ICE cars when a major thing brakes and the repair costs are about the same as the car's value. Example: a new transmission costs $3k, so noone is going to buy that car for much more than $3k. Likewise, a Tesla battery replacement costs $12k-20k, which means that noone's going to buy a used Tesla once its value is close to $12k-$20k. And mainstream new ICE sedans like a Toyota Camry costs $18k-$25k; therefore why would anyone who's going to spend $25k consider a used Tesla when they can get a new Toyota Camry?? The $35k version with the short range battery will not sell. Less wealthy people live farther from their jobs so they are the ones who actually need a bigger battery more than a person who earns more and lives closer and gets to telecommute.

  7. Wish I had bought the VW (0-60 in 5.9 seconds) instead of the Toyota Camry SE (0-60 in 7.7 seconds) in 8/2019...I didn't know about the VW then.

Hyundai Sonata depreciates 35% after 1 year, 45% by the 2nd year, 50% by 3rd year Hyundai Elantra depreciates 30% after 1 year, 40% by the 2nd year. Conversely, my 2017 Corvette depreciates 20% after the 1st year, then stays flat at the 2nd year still keeping depreciation at 20%. My 2014 Toyota Highlander depreciates 10% after 1st year, 20% 2nd year, 30% 3rd year.

  9.  @lpg12338  How long i keep my car depends on its purpose: For me commuting to work, I'll drive until the transmission breaks (usually 110k+ miles) . For my main family car to take vacations and my kid's college car (I tradein at 8 years regardless of condition, usually close to 100k miles).

  10. I've just test driven one. PRO: small turning radius CON: The regenerative braking kicked in when I wanted to coast felt like I suddenly hit the brakes making them feel grabby. No Volume and a/c touch buttons instead of a physical knob. 12v cigarette outlet up front, only 1 in the armrest. The Venza (0-60 in 7.8 seconds) felt slower than my 2014 Highlander (0-60 in 7.2 seconds).

  11. Corolla= CVT transmission is unreliable and engine doesn't have the torque. Center console screen sticks up like a sore thumb instead of nicely moulded into the dashboard. Jetta=traditional transmission is reliable and the 1.4 turbo has lots of torque fun. Interior is higher quality and it has a cool flat bottom steering wheel. I own 3 Toyotas but I've recently bought my first VW, a Jetta.

  14. Seriously doubt it. Toyota doesn't sell that many sports cars, and they're too cheap to make their own sports car that they had to partner with BMW so I highly doubt they'll make a manual transmission.

  19. Saw it in person at the dealership today, fugly. Ain't worth $40-45k. Cheapened out on the details such as halogen bulbs for courtesy lights, really? That center console is fugly, reminds me of my Renault Grand scenic minivan rental in Paris.

  24. IF all you're after is quickness to 1/4 mile, then yes an auto tranny is better than stick, but then why even bother with an ICE car, just get an EV instead (1 gear drag car king to 1/4 mile). To me, the easier and efficient technology becomes, then less fun it is. For example, cars are faster and more efficient than riding horses but a cowby or a warrior on horseback is just cooler. Same with an ICE car with a manual transmission compared to an EV car (it's faster and more efficient but not very majestic).

It needs a nose job for that huge schnoz and get rid of that hunchback, it's supposed to be a liftback. Supra's top speed is 155mph versus Corvette's 195mph. If we wanted a BMW, we'd buy a BMW Z4, why would we bother buying through Toyota? Why deal with BMW unreliability and high parts/service prices? Toyota dealers aren't going to have plentiful BMW tools, parts, etc. to service it. If we wanted a BMW, why not just buy the BMW version and get BMW dealer luxury perks at service time instead of none at Toyota??

  32. My 2 kids are older than 16 and have their own cars. I don't need a 3rd row anymore. What I want is a SHORTER suv with a better turning radius (as opposed to the same big turning radius of my 2014 Toyota Highlander) and more INSTANT power (such as a plugin hybrid in the 2021 Toyota Rav4).

  36.  @32523Bwahahaha  For my 18 year old son in 8/2019, I bought a new 2019 Camry SE (traded up after 2 years of driving my 2008 Scion XB which I bought new) . For my 16 year old daughter in 2/2020, I bought a CPO used 2016 VW Jetta S (after she totaled her 2014 Toyota Camry LE) which even has the upgraded Apple Carplay/Android Auto.

  41. @Jeff Southern: Corvette's big 6.2 litres has 300lbs torque at 0mph (at 1000rpm, just barely above idle rpm) which is 65% of its max 465lbs torque at 4500rpm.

It's getting cheaper relative to its current earnings (half compared to last year). ...With the Delta virus coming at full speed ahead, pandemic sales will make a comeback. Amazon's not going anywhere so I know that eventually it will come back. Fidelity considers Amazon as a large growth company (probably because as big as it is, it still only has 7% of the retail market) buying via Amazon Smile donations donates some money to my favorite charity too! Get on board or be runover, it's up to you.

  46. Supra falls short compared to a Corvette which also comes with a manual transmission and a targa top and a V8 exhaust note and rear brembo brakes.

  48. I test drove the Lexus LC500 but I didn't think the interior was impressive. I like the BMW z4 interior more than the Lexus LC500 (I don't like the ewok ears on the sides of the instrument panel and missing Apple Carplay).
