No, $37k is average for cars and suv. But the Tesla Model 3 is a car, not a suv; the average ICE car (Toyota Camry) is $18k-$25k so that makes the Tesla Model 3 at $35k + $1500 non black color + $ home charger

There are a few issues before the adoption of electric car goes mainstream : 1. Cost of acquisition is still higher than gas powered car (Toyota Camry at $18k-$25k). 2. Electric charging station infrastructure needs to be at every corner like gas stations. When you get to a charging station and have to wait for other cars ahead of you to finish, then add your charging time to the wait time. Also if all the stalls are used, charging time can be up to 50% longer. 3. Time to recharge the battery in 6 minutes like ICE cars.? 4. Resale value: Depreciate very fast. People junk ICE cars when a major thing brakes and the repair costs are about the same as the car's value. Example: a new transmission costs $4k, so noone is going to buy that car for much more than $4k. Likewise, a Tesla battery replacement costs $12k-20k, which means that noone's going to buy a used Tesla once its value is close to $12k-$20k. And mainstream new ICE sedans like a Toyota Camry costs $18k-$25k; therefore why would anyone who's going to spend $25k consider a used Tesla when they can get a new Toyota Camry (and not incur rental car costs while their car is in the shop)?? The $35k version with the short range battery will not sell. Less wealthy people live farther from their jobs so they are the ones who actually need a bigger battery more than a person who earns more and lives closer and gets to telecommute.
