I test drove the Model 3 with awd and I'll pass.
PRO: peppy
CON:
- Stiff suspension, more stiff than even my C7 Corvette Stingray.
- In the parking garage, steering wheel was heavy and felt almost like no power steering.
- Hate Tesla's regenerative braking, felt like I slammed on the brakes abruptly and hard every time I took
my foot off the throttle. Risk of getting rear-ended. Gets fatiguing holding your foot so lightly on the
throttle in an attempt to maintain speed. Without regenerative brakes, your foot gets to rest while you're
coasting.
Lawsuit: http://www.lemonlawcourt.com/tesla-regenerative-braking-lawsuit/
- freebie only comes in black color, other colors are +$2k
- freebie only comes with 18 inch steel wheels and hub caps, aluminum wheel is +$2k
- charger parts&labor +$2k
- Hate giant ugly tablet as the center console
- tiny fonts for P/D/N/R
- to get black seats, you get ugly geezer woodgrain dashboard
- even with tax credit, you still have to pay tax on that amount.
- don't like to look to the side to see my speedometer
- speedometer number font is tiny?
- No Apple Carplay
- No sunroof
- Teach others how to use the door handle inside and outside. Human-user interface suck.
- Ergonomics suck. Instead of a button to press once to do something, I have to clicks several menus and
read the choices. Can't turn a knob or button by feel and have to take my eyes off the road, rotate my
head, and read.
OTHER CONS:
- boring, no soul
- woodgrain dashboard is geezer style
- if u forget to charge and the battery completely dies (bricked), you have to tow it to a Tesla dealer to
get it working.
- hot climates drain the battery
- higher insurance
- takes longer for parts if in an accident
- cold weather drops battery range by 40%
- Range anxiety. I have to plan ahead for refueling (itineraries). Never had to think about this with
combustion cars.
- superchargers aren't always enroute so your trip will take longer.
- With more Model 3 on the road than before, Tesla service or bodyshop is going to have a long backlog wait
times.
- autonomous is not ready, car accidents: http://fortune.com/2018/10/31/tesla-model-s-autopilot-crash-
lawsuit/
- electric cars are quiet so you're going to hear more other noises than in a combustion engine car engine
which hides squeaks, rattles, brake calipers.
- The Kona is a SUV which is more desirable to most people than the Tesla Model 3 which is a low car.

Neither, instead I bought a Corvette C7, 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds, stops in 100ft, corners at 1.17G. Corvette has 4 big center exhaust pipes and a beautiful exhaust note, targa top, stickshift fun. 300lbs of torque at an early 1000rpm before revving up to 465lbs. Top cars at Nurgburgring are McLaren, Porsche, Corvette, Viper.
Tesla: Hate regenerative braking, feels like slamming on the brakes. Ugly desktop computer display as its center console. Geezer style oak wood on the dashboard. Bad ergonomics (tiny fonts, turn head to the side, press multiple screens buttons because there's no physical buttons). Looks like a Dodge Dart.
BMW: Poor reliability, looks like a Honda Civic.
