  3. It's Nietzsche's whole "God is dead" thing. What happens when the awe disappears? This. These people. We're heading into a dramatic period, where there's going to be some serious social "natural selection" going on. "Serious" meaning that it'll have physical consequences and take place over a relatively short period of time. Buckle-up, etc.
