  1. Doesn't China use a port in Eritrea for their naval fleet (when it ventures that far afield)? Not sure what the extent of the operations are, but you'd think they'd want to have a hand in this since their manufactured goods going to Europe are involved. Or are they just docking a few PLA naval ships in East Africa for 'show' purposes?

  2. Realize the ocean shipping industry is an international mix and it might be hard to keep track of things (especially for the Russians!). It may be Russian cargo but its on a ship flagged/registered in another country and the crew may be from a third country. It gets pretty crazy.
