6:15 The term 'Smart light bulb'; some things just don't need a semiconductor inside them. Peter, if you read these, have you heard anything about financial problems at Huawei? They've been doing a lot of bond sales this year with some odd yields, and the bonds are unsecured. Rumor is they're having big financial problems and the bonds are something of a 'cover' for the CCP to use instead of just doing the normal looting of banks and accounts of the few profitable industries in China to keep them afloat.

@easonhuang7117 Japan's t-bills are at positive yields, not much of a discount on yields needed to move them either, so not sure where you are getting your info. Japan's financial system is an open, transparent system, far better security on bonds than anything coming out of a Chinese corporation or China's government bonds.

@SignalCorps1 They were pushing out a lot of short-term bonds earlier this year (can't remember the rates off hand) and the current is a big issue for longer term (5years IIRC) at about 2.5% unsecured. Its just tough to find real non-Chinese info on how Huawei is doing financially or their future plans on the web so all these bonds issue with no real plans behind them (specific investments or ???) just seem odd.

@quantumbacon Yep LEDs are a form of semiconductor. I just can't see me needing those lights when I can control them from a dimmer switch on the wall. I'm all about keeping it simple and adaptable where I can.

I'd almost say some rich Chinese folks bought it to get their capital out of China. They don't really care if they sell pork to Americans or Chinese consumers, they just want to preserve their wealth.

I was thinking it was one of those planes that tow advertising banners along popular beaches during the summer months. Those things are mucho loud! But I don't think those can fly as high as Peter is hiking.

@DreadnoughtMonkeys-ou1dr A 4G phone works fine for me and a lot of other folks here in the USA, why would I want to spend more money just to get the '5G' logo on my phone. China making too much of a big deal over being the leader in all tech when they could do well with basics and concentrate on only a few leading edge technologies.

I thought foreign car manufacturers had been slowing and shrinking operations in China due to slowing sales and some onerous regulations put on foreign car brands to help support their own domestic car brands, even when those foreign brands and manufactured in China. I know VW has shrunk their facilities in China quite a bit, not sure about BMW or Mercedes-Benz. Honda has closed a few facilities and will be closing more, Toyota too.
