  1. I always thought it was a combination of both. The stimulus checks weren't all that much in the larger picture (except the federal deficit, of course!), but lots of 'spot' supply shortages (different foods on the shelves in my area at different times), and the biggest, hi-profile example of shortages was automotive where the dealers could charge customers outlandish marked-up prices. I didn't consider fuel prices in inflation as those can vary wildly throughout the year in normal times. Its more of a 'market forces' thing rather than anything the government can control whether a Dem or Repub is in the White House or which party controls Congress. Cheers.
