  3. Subbing a value isn't new, it goes back decades. The coolant temp gauge maxes out as a fail safe. I'm betting the coolant temp sensor was failing also. So how would you know what the coolant temp is if the sensor has failed / is glitchy?

  7. Values are subbed in order to keep the car running. Coolant temp on a computer engine is like a choke plate on a carb car. Would you rather the car stop running if the sensor failed?

  8. The scan data shows coolant temp voltage however it is showing 0 to something like 20 V max. This seems like too high of a range, 0 to 5 V is typical with anything below say 0.5 or above 4.5 tripping shorted or open circuit codes.
