  1. I wonder if some of these channel markers are actually being used as split data streams. RE If say 4 freqs are monitored and combined, a sort of morse code could be built up out of subtle timing differences between the different channel markers.

  2. In the USA, elevators are required to have a emergency phone that can make / receive calls. Poking around on the keys will net a message " Elevator call " then the elevator number followed by a couple of choices to listen in / talk to occupants. In this particular instance, it was a car dealer and judging by the background noise / time of day, it was an elevator in the service department

I've come across something similar in the USA on the AM band ( 770 ? and maybe another freq but don't quote me on that ) I was parked under some 3 phase power lines ( either 7,200 or 14,400 volt ) in an industrial park that was about 1/2 mile from a medium sized sub station. The area where I parked had pole mounted transformers feeding the building that was warehousing. The only electrical loads were computers and LED lighting. When driving from under the power lines, the noise vanished. The noise was consistent over a couple of months when I was visiting that facility. The sound was deeper with a bit more growl. At first I thought it was an electric motor starting under a high inertia load but I'm thinking it is the result of 2 stable frequency electrical noise sources going in and out of phase with each other. ( As in a twin engine aircraft / boat ) Low quality switch mode power supplies / packaged LED lights tend to be very noisy so I'm wondering if I was picking that up.

If the recording comes from another source, site X does not have the CR." Also, apparently, there is a whole industry around people claiming CR then filing CR strikes through YT so they can get ad $$ .

  19. I wonder if there is a hidden feature that allows direct radio to radio coms in the absence of a cell signal. ( Range limited to power of the radio ) This would make for an interesting legality question. If you paid for a sim card to transmit on the cell network frequency ( RE: rent time on that frequency ) but the network was miles away so you are not using their tower, would it be legal? What about if no sim card and no network?

  25. I had read that a state somewhere is moving to a cell based PTT network for coms. This has the advantage of inter jurisdiction coms however, if the cell network goes down, there would be a problem. I'm betting that these radios have preemption if the cell network becomes over run. I'm wondering of these have a function to transmit direct from radio to radio if everything goes down.

  40. The thing about the target already having a cipher key / decode book is that you need to physically get it to the target. With modern cell phones ( or other means ) the key can be embedded in a picture and extracted later. Or, use some sort of existing varying data stream as the key. To expand on using a data stream outside of it's intended purpose, I seem to recall that some time clock systems used an over the air TV NTSC sync pulse as an accurate time base.
