  4. In the 80's Chrysler made a factory limo from the K car using the rear of a 2 door and the front of a 4 door.

  16. Concerning the heat, if the car does not have a valve on the heater inlet hose, put one on it and the interior temps will go down dramatically. If it has a factory valve, be sure that it is actually closing.

  17. And Kia / Hyundai having the tail lights and turn signals separated by a foot or so. Another issue are turn signals inside the headlights, this leads to washed out turn signals / weak visible light as the entire lens does not light up like a separate turn signal.

  25. in 2002 Ford auctioned off many concept cars from the past. Also, the only steel bodied Corvette was rescued from the crusher some time back. The car was in a GM warehouse in the UK for some reason. ( the car used a Porsche 914-6 as a basis but had a rotary engine and auto trans. )

  27. Something else to think about, EV conversions will bring non car people into the fold. Not everyone has the skill or access to a mechanic / parts to keep old stuff going. Plus, old cars tend to sit unused for long periods of time which is detrimental to a gas engine but not an issue with an EV. Also, as more and more cars come on the market, there is a saturation point where the supply outstrips people willing to maintain an " old " car.

  32.  @alan-sk7ky  There are some cars in the USA that turn off the day time running light when a turn signal is operated. I haven't seen any yet that turn off the headlight. Turning off the headlight might be an issue if the opposite headlight has failed.

And, does anyone in the internet generation know what a wind up key is? Headlights Don't forget chrome eyebrows / half covers of the top. Traffic light viewer From what I recall, there was also a version that stuck to the top inside of the windshield , it was pretty much a chunk of plastic Car Dolls. There is also a wooden / painted version typically found in the USA where grandma is in her bloomers weeding the garden. Another is a cowboy smoking a cigarette / big foot profile cutout painted black.

  38. Factory limos were more of less a 4 door cut off at the rear of the rear doors to generate a front half. Then a 2 door cut off just behind the rear of the door to generate the back half.

  41.  @jetsons101  The 55 ( mini fins ) / 56 ( larger fins ) Plymouth had wrap around windshields so the A pillar was more like a backwards L. If one knows what to look for the Ply / Chev / Ford have detail differences but the side profile is pretty much the same. In another thread someone brought up the 56 Packard. If a car looks too different for the times , it won't sell or is called a loser and it is patently unfair to hammer auto makers when they take a risk. See the Chrysler Air Flow where few trusted cars that were not square / PT Cruiser / Pontiac Aztec < interesting that the Pontiac Vibe sold well even though it was a mini Aztec. The AMC Gremlin sold well oddly enough but I think this was down to it being a small car in the traditional sense compared to a Japanese car.

  47.  @duckrutt  The PT only shares a few front suspension bits with the Neon. The PT ( Plymouth Truck as it was an evolution of the Plymouth Pronto concept car) it is classified as a multi use vehicle due to removable rear seats and flat load floor. The 2.4 16 valve engine was an evolution of the 2.2 / 2.5 from the K car. They are not bad cars but are designed to a price point as a way to bump up truck fuel economy averages.
