  3. ​ @randylahey8207 They lost that capacity once they chose to sanction their main supplier of irreplaceably cheap energy. Germany relied on the extremely reliable and cheap Soviet and later Russian gas from the 1960s on -- without it, there would never have been the so-called German economic miracle, the other pillar of which was foreign labour. Germany still has the latter, but without Russian energy supplies, which it forfeited by placing sanctions on Russia and then refusing to pay for gas in rubles, Germany has NO chance of retaining competitiveness on the global market. I feel no sympathy for Germans: they sacrificed their own economy and well being to their nasty revanchism against Russia, who'd defeated them in WW2. You reap what you sow.

  4. ​​​ @Nata-rp6pf  That's already taking place -- Serbia's lost practically all of its former industrial capacity by selling everything off to foreign (EU states') companies. Btw, overwhelmingly most Serbs are opposed to joining the EU.
