  1. They absolutely do play a role, as you point out. So does the insane decision to appropriate the Russian reserve currency funds held abroad. Other countries have been pulling out their reserve currency funds from the West at the speed of light this past year. On top of which, they've stopped investing in the US. The States lost a whopping 80% of foreign direct investment in the last 12 months, all due to the incredible arrogance and greed of the people presently running the country.

I don't wish hardship to the American people, but once the US loses the petrodollar which made the dollar the world's only reserve currency, invading and bombing countries all around the world, as well as maintaining all those 800+ military bases abroad, will become untenable. World peace and the demise of the petrodollar are two sides of one and the same coin.
