@fazilm1 Ukraine and the West are not going to honour ANY agreement they might sign with Russia -- that much is clear and certain -- so there's no point in pretending otherwise. Russia's security from NATO is worth the trouble of dealing Ukraine such a series of military blows that it's forced to capitulate and accept Russia's terms. I hope Kremlin manages to get Putin to understand this without further delay.

What worries me is that Putin seems willing to go along with some sort of a peace deal rather than force unconditional surrender on Kiev.

Ukrainian standard of living was significantly lower than Russia's well before 2013. By that point, and before any of the refugees from Donbass crossed over to Russia to save themselves from Ukrainian aggression, there were already about 5 million Ukrainians living and working in Russia because salaries and living standards there are much higher than in Ukraine.
