They were in the process of getting divorced and both were already in new relationships. Why would she, given the circumstances, have decided to disappear without a trace in order to start some mysterious new life who knows where? And why would she have bothered staging things so as to incriminate a man she was divorcing anyway? On the other hand, the most meticulous search of all those CC tapes couldn't place him anywhere near the supposed scene of abduction. He simply wasn't there. And her phone did look deliberately placed to be found at the particular spot where it was found. Finally, I don't believe for a moment that the police could not have spotted those blood stains using the special light they had because it was a rainy day. Especially since one of the stains, the largest one, is clearly visible to the naked eye and is supposed to be a heavy blood stain! So far, I can only conclude that the jury had several grounds for a reasonable doubt about his guilt, but it would be good to see what the second part of this investigation revealed.
