@chwylief A baby can survive outside the mother's womb; a fetus cannot. Every baby was once a fetus, but not every fetus will develop to be a baby. A huge number of them are miscarried by an act of God or nature.

You don't want to know. It's awful what they do to their own children, even maiming them so they'd make more pitiful beggars. More frequent in Europe than in the US.
10
It doesn't matter what it means in Latin; House knows what it means in medicine, and that's all that counts.

@samg873 Actually, it is. Psychosis robs a person of a sense of reality. You just can't deal with that fact.
8
@joshntn37111 What's wrong with suggesting you take a book with you to read while recovering from surgery or even just waiting in the ER?

19-year olds are teens, too. Did he know she was 15?
7
@elijahcriswell1658 He was conflicted and couldn't give her an answer there and then. He communicated his ambivalence very clearly.
7
She doesn't look 15 here. More like 20.

@rebelwithoutaclue9387 Congratulations 🎉 Good for you!

@thatoneannoyingtornadosire8755 Also, I wouldn't trust a recovering drug addict to tell the whole truth about how she'd treated her daughter.
4
@Sleepy_Holl0w That's way too simplistic. Sure gets a lot of people off the hook, to.
3
Seems gratuitously nasty to me.
2
Of course he cares. He's still a jerk, though.

@zonedout6432 Any doctor who works in a hospital and most who don't work in high-stress situations.
2
Huh? 😅

Naltrexone blocks opiate receptors, so even if you tried to drug yourself on it, you'd not feel a thing, the drugs just wouldn't work on you.

Caring is a part of what it means to love another. He doesn't care about her = he doesn't love her. He may like her, need her, fancy her, sure. But he doesn't love her.

@Americanpatriot-zo2tk So what? Mothers kill their children sometimes, as do fathers. They very often mess up their kids for life. And precisely because "they're still family," they continue to mess them up for decades on end.
1
@antithoughtpolice7497 It can be and I'm sure often is. Except in those cases in which the parents or a parent end up killing their child. Which also happens.

@Samantha-dv4je I've been on it for the last 8 years. My fibro pain's completely gone! Btw, my Pain Clinic doctor takes it as a kind of all-round tonic herself although she's completely healthy. I intend to stay on it for as long as I'm alive.
1
Quitting drugs can be hard?! You mean, sometimes it's fairly easy?! 😅
1
It's a form of narcissistic exhibitionism. A total turn-off.
1
@daerdevvyl4314 Well put.

I was on opiates for four years. Went cold turkey and never had any problems, either. Best thing I did as they were messing with my short-memory and even my orientation in time. Btw, I had to go off opiates in order to start low dose naltrexone treatment for fibromyalgia: it's completely stopped the fibro pain I used to have.
1
Then it turns out she was right to refuse the first treatment, which would have killed her son!

He's a jerk.

@christopherhall5361 True but not the whole truth. As Freud famously said, nothing in the unconscious is ever erased. When, knowing that, in my early 30s, I managed to dredge out of my subconscious the memory of a trauma I experienced at the age of 8, my mother confirmed every detail of it. There was no elaboration, no fabrication of detail, no distortion: and I did it "cold",i.e. by myself and not under anyone's guidance.

@jakeg3733 It's just an investment. And pretentious BS.

I strongly dislike it because (1) they were just being trendy, and (2) obesity does increase the risk for cancer.
