  2. He learned the causes of WW2 from all those Nazis the US airlifted into the States in 1945/6. They taught at US military academies and completely skewed the perspective of their colleagues and students. The good colonel should have outgrown that by now, but otherwise he's 90% on point. A rare thing nowadays.
