No reputable historian in the West, where socialism has mostly been maligned and where historians of WW2 can be expected to have have every ideological incentive to use the occasion to blacked socialism a bit more by associating it with Nazism, sees the latter as any form of socialism. Nazism was fascism, a blend of big business and the state apparatus, government and the corporations, and, as Hitler openly stated WW2 was Germany's attempt to settle the question of its European colonies by military means. In short, it was the quintessentially imperialist war in the European, North African, and the Pacific regions.
