  1. Well, it did -- for about a hundred years. Lenin gave all those parts of Russia to its Borderlands (which is what Ukraine means) in order to create a new state, a new nation there. Now, given how badly Ukrainians have treated the people of those regions, they are going home, rejoining Russia.
