  1. Russia had not intended a war of these dimensions at all. The SMO was meant to bring Ukraine to the negotiating table and induce it to finally implement the Minsk Accords, as was being discussed a year ago in Istanbul. The West compelled Ukraine to take the military route instead, with the consequences we all see now.
