@pensatoreseneca The 80,000 volunteers are in addition to the 300,000 reservists. So are the Chechen forces and the Wagner Group guys. Col. Douglas Macgregor and Scott Ritter, separately, estimate the actual size of the newly arriving RF reinforcements to be well over 500,000 men.

I can: Poles and Romanians.

@ellisduckworth5908 That's a serious misreading of reality. The majority of people in the Eastern European countries that were once a part of the USSR -- except Poland -- actually support Russia in this conflict. Their governments' policies do not represent the people's will at all, which is why we're seeing demonstrations in Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Germans should thank Xi for the lecture in prudence and geopolitics he gave to Scholz. We can only hope that there are political forces in Germany who're paying attention and drawing appropriate conclusions regarding their country's future.

That, and the fact, which they are aware of, that the referendums in those 4 regions were overseen by over a hundred foreign observers, as the referendum in Crimea also was. In other words, they KNOW those regions are well and good lost to Ukraine because Ukraine treated their residents so atrociously, so barbarically for the past 8 years that they genuinely don't want to be a part of it ever again. They may, and will, pretend that the referendum results were faked, but they KNOW better.

@klubberzvonhatzenbuhl563 You forgot fiddlesticks. 😘

German politicians' words are worth nothing. Merkel, and her failure to get Ukraine to implement the Minsk Accords, as well as her failure to protect Nord Stream 2 and get it up and running before she left office, have not been lost of the Chinese. As Xi pointedly emphasized, political trust, once lost, is hard to regain. In other words, you must be delusional, Herr Scholz, if you imagine we're going to trust Germany on anything!

@TL-fe9si Germany announced last week that they can't afford the planned expansion of their military....

@nahidhkurdi6740 Because military men can draw very accurate deductions from the types of weaponry and other supplies a side is amassing in an area, as Russia is doing in the regions that have recently reunited with her.

@nahidhkurdi6740 The Russians themselves have never given us a timeline, so everybody's been speculating on what and when the Russians will do and then offering their speculations as established fact. And nobody ever mentions one fact about the newly mobilized RF forces that we do actually know: Shoigu's statement made when the mobilization was first announced that MOST of the mobilized reservists will be positioned so far from the battleline that they won't be able to see it even with the help of binoculars! Was Shoigu lying? Is it wise to ignore such unambiguous statements by him?
