  3. They did not abandon them. Russian forces had offered to evacuate everyone from Izyum: some, predominantly older folks, preferred to remain. It's absolutely tragic what Ukraine is doing to these people, but they were not abandoned or betrayed.

  7.  @aryzen2781  Of course not. I expect that a good 60-70% of them want Ukraine to be a sovereign state and not a part of Russia. Ukraine lost its sovereignty in 2014 and has been run by de facto puppet regimes manipulated by NATO ever since then. A great many Ukrainians are aware of this -- probably not the ones whose views you're getting -- and will secretly be more than happy when the Zelensky regime is forced to capitulate and step down, giving way to patriotic but anti-nationalist Ukrainians.

  8.  @aryzen2781  Ukrainians are currently, and have been for the past 8 years, living under a regime of terror enforced by bona fide local Nazis. Ukraine has also lost all of its opposition media, its opposition parties, and the very basic freedoms of speech and affiliation under the most recent, i.e. current puppet regime, that headed by Zelensky. As for Russia's supposed autocracy, Western propaganda is one thing; reality, another. As the late Stephen F. Cohen never tired of pointing out in the last 10 years of his life, Russia now enjoys a much more vibrant political life, complete with media freedom, etc., than the USA. In fact, it's quite extraordinary how the roles and values have swapped places over the past 30 years.

  10. Russia isn't interested in "going after NATO itself" -- that's NATO powers' projection of their own thinking and intentions onto Russia. It would never have launched even this limited SMO in Ukraine if the idiots in Kiev had had the gumption and the smarts to implement the Minsk Accords.
