@bobilaforce8252 Ha! 😅

This won't be the first time Serbs deceived themselves and fell for Western guile. They still have totally unrealistic beliefs about what life in "normal" countries is actually like and a totally skewed picture of Serbia's actual economic strength compared to all the other parts of former Yugoslavia. The idea that university students -- what percentage of the population of Serbia do they constitute?! -- should be given the right to select some of their professors who would then form a "national unity government" is preposterous. And deeply, inherently anti-democratic. I'm on the mailing list of the so-called non-govermental organization that's pushing these protests and they calling for the people of Serbia to PREVENT new elections! You have to be either totally deluded, or irresponsibly naive, or cynically self-interested in some way to think that this has anything to do with saving Serbia (from what?! It's doing far better than most of its neighbours!) or with the rule of law and democracy.

I suppose you would consider Canada a serious state (I'm a Serbian Canadian). Some 20 years ago, 5 people in Ontario died of E. coli caused by improper water purification and improper inspection of water quality in that region of the province. This occurred as the result of funding cuts and the consequent reduction of the number of inspectors: something the then Conservative Party government had been fully warned would happen. Those 5 people died because the same government had privatised water purification itself, whereupon quality standards plummeted. Nobody has ever even been charged with recklessly endangering the public, let alone been convicted. No one resigned his post either.
