Lukashenko never said that Russia's aim in going up to the outskirts of Kiev was to take it. You've been deceived by an obviously disingenuous, propagandistic translation of his words. Every competent (plus honest) military expert in the US, Europe, and Asia understands that what we saw in the early days of the SMO was a "fixing operation", a move that kept the Ukrainian forces in and around the capital fixed in place, ready to defend the capital city and thus unable to move east to Donbass, where the real fighting was going on. This is so elementary that every "expert" and military honcho featured in our MSM who's been telling you the Russians tried to take Kiev is lying -- they know better, but it's imperative to keep the public believing in the official narrative of an incompetent, losing Russia, etc.

Why should or why on earth would they bother about what a flagrantly racist, hypocritical (rest of) Europe may think? Russia is now free to pursue its own development, both culturally and economically. There's absolutely no doubt any more that the West, including the EU part of Europe, is in terminal cultural, economic, and military decline. The old adage needs to be revised to fit the new reality: Go East, young man!

  24. A ceasefire -- the Russians did say that they will respond to any provocations by the Ukrainian side, as they're indeed doing. Ukrainian officers and whoever in Kiev ordered their forces to keep attacking the Russian forces during this 36-hr ceasefire are responsible for the losses of men and territory Ukraine continues to suffer, even on the holy high holiday of Orthodox Christmas (which the EU overwhelming majority of Ukrainians also celebrate on Jan. 7).

  31. The Minsk Accords didn't fail. They were just window dressing by the West, never meant to be implemented by Ukraine, for whom they were THE optimal solution of the crisis the US and EU (NATO) engineered to "extend" Russia. The Rand report of 2019 explains this in detail. Had Russia gone into Ukraine back in 2014, as many inside Russia were urging Putin to do, all this would indeed have been over in a matter of weeks since the Ukrainian army was in a total disarray at that point. Even Putin himself has admitted in public that his decision to hold back in 2014 was a grave error.
