  1. Dear Alexander, please do take a day or two off to recover from this lingering, returning flu or chest cold. The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to believe that the decision to pull out of Kherson city was already made at the time Gen. Surovikin was put in charge of the SMO. His announcement straight off the bat that he's ready to make some "difficult decisions" and the fact that the Russian troops spent the past 4 weeks evacuating the civilians and removing historical monuments from Kherson city suggests that the decision was taken at least a month ago. In this context, Surovikin seems to me to be the man appointed to take the flak for the series of bad military decisions made by the political leadership that resulted in the losses and embarrassments Russia has suffered since the beginning of September. I heard today, either in your Duran video with Alex or in Andrei Martyanov's latest, that Putin has now given free reign to the Russian General Staff and will no longer interfere with the running of the SMO. For Russia's sake and the sake of all of us who want to see a genuinely multipolar world take form, I hope that's true.
