  2. Of course it was an attempted false flag. Alexander is the only independent analyst I follow who keeps insisting it was all just an innocent mistake. The fact that the missile had to be deliberately programmed to explode on the ground rules it out, however.

  8.  @gtengineer1967  You're right! And I take my comment back. The right/western bank of the Dnieper is higher ground than the left/eastern bank! I just learned a day or so ago that the Russians had to evacuate the area they'd pulled back to for that very reason, in case the Ukrainians blow up that dam after all. My apologies

That's why it was necessary to evacuate most of the residents, as the majority are ethnic Russians who were at risk of being drowned in the horrific flood that would have resulted from the destruction of that dam. And the Ukrainian forces seemed very keen on triggering just such a catastrophic eventuality. Now that the Russian-speaking civilians, over 2/3 of the city's population, are out of harm's way and the Ukrainians can't do a thing to them, they've lost interest in the city
