The EU (including the UK) and the USA, in the same measure, more or less. First the EU violated the Budapest Memorandum back in 2013, thereby blowing open the whole question of Ukraine's territorial integrity (see Article 3 of the Budapest Memo), and then the US and the Brits did the rest. We (Canada) helped them along, too.

@colinwise8044 Nonsense: the EU blackmailed Ukraine in 2013, demanding that it forego its trading partnership in the Eurasian Economic Union as a precondition for its Association Agreement. A textbook example of what economic blackmail for geopolitical purposes means.

@colinwise8044 You need to deny that the Association Agreement the EU presented Ukraine with in 2013 didn't include a blackmail clause that required Ukraine to give up its trade with the Eurasian Economic Union. Denials don't change facts, though.

@colinwise8044 From the start, and apart from lying about the actual contents of the Budapest Memo, you've used sophistry to deny the simple fact that the EU did use an economic blackmail -- we won't give you an Association Agreement unless you drop your trade with the EEU -- for geopolitical aims, as prohibited by the only international document that guaranteed Ukraine's territorial integrity in the post-USSR era. When the Ukrainian government asked for a 6-months' extension to study the proposal and negotiate around that blackmail, the EU+US staged the Maidan protests (the US had spent $5 billion preparing that little move, as we learned from Victoria Nuland) and subsequently the coup d'etat which installed bona fide fascists in power in Kiev.

Ukrainians need to start from scratch when it comes to their historical understanding of themselves. You've been telling yourselves embarrassingly silly fairytales about your history and your achievements (Ukraine as the cradle of civilization, Ukrainians creating the Black Sea by digging it's basin out, etc.) ever since you caught that über-nationalist bug that's threatening to destroy you now. You know perfectly well, for example, that Kievan Rus was not Ukraine. If it continues this way, and it's not something I wish for you, Ukraine may well disappear as so many other states and nations have done throughout human history.
