  2. That's true, however it was a tactical/political decision in the US to let them be the ones to get to Berlin first. The Americans were well within reach but held off to let the Russians take it. It could have gone either way. Most historians would agree that if that decision had not been made it would have been the US in Berlin first. It made Patton FURIOUS!
