  1. Public schools should be about teaching academics and nothing else. No religion as well as no societal issues. Those areas are for the parents to teach.

  2.  @Patricia-cn7ox  History is an Academic. I never had a class on "How to interact with others". I started in Kindergarten and ended with a Bachelor's in Engineering. Never even saw a class like that offered...anywhere. Never had a problem interacting with anyone. No, school is a place of learning.

  3.  @Patricia-cn7ox  Racism as well as sexism is part of history. I learned about slavery and women's suffrage in history class. I also leaned of our founding and how our society functions in Civics class. These are Academics. I'm not understanding your point.

If you are able to define the two as you wish then you are unable to tell anyone other than yourself what is right and what is wrong. Murder would be wrong for you and anyone who agrees with you. Thats it. By saying I can define my own morality you forfeit any ability to stop me from doing as I see fit, because you already told me I can. Really? You're not seeing the problem with your logic?

  27.  @emm8357  I disagree somewhat on only one thing. Humanities are a range of academic subjects. Not so much a subject in itself. You could argue that I suppose as I imagine you could major in it but Humanities are not taught in K thru 12. At least not when I was in school. Certain academics that involve the field of Humanities were, then you could go on and focus on those academics in the field of "Humanities" or focus on just one like History. You are saying in your second half exactly what I am saying. You do not need any other subject matter to learn of all the things that Patricia wants taught, racism and it's effects, sexism, even religion. You already learn all of it thru traditional academics. Just like you said History, Literature and Civics etc. That is exactly my point. Had to edit an oversight.
