  1. I am white and live north of Detroit. I became interested in Freedom Seekers when I visited a park that had a historical marker about a farm that had been on the property which hid escaped slaves in a cave built by the farmer. The farmer's wife would make food for the people running. They continued on their journey to cross to Canada via the St. Clair River. Later years passed and Mohammed Ali bought that farm because he wanted riding stables. There is so much more to the story. I'm researching so many people hid those amazing people. Even the Indians along the lakes hid them and got them across the Great Lakes. The Indians felt a kindred spirit with the escaped slaves because of the mistreatment of both peoples.
