So engineers don't have a say in any other aspects of the business? Many CEO's were/are engineers. Go take a look at what it costs to replace a burnt out tail light on a 2016 Ford Explorer. Most other vehicles it would be a $10 light bulb. Don't tell me that's not an engineer pushing the limits of what they can do vs. what is most practical.

@j.p.vanbolhuis8678 . . . I get that, but I worked in the Auto Mfg. sector for 15+ years. I think the engineers of today are different than of yesterday. I think they have different interests, views, and tastes, etc. and that subconscious eventually comes thru in how they design/engineer a vehicle. And then when you have do nothing know it all bureaucrats dictating other aspects like MPG without any useful or practical knowledge on how that's going to be accomplished you get what we have today. Same with modern day appliances.
