Are you sure it's previous period? Or is it the same period but prior year? That would make more sense as to compare to prior year periods is more relatable based on seasonal activity.

Harbor Freight benefits higher end name brands due to the fact that it lowers the entry point for those that are thinking of going into a trade. If they make the decision that they want to end up in skilled trades then they'll most likely end up buying higher end tools. It's a win win.

@daversj . . the last collapse was due to the Federal Government subsidizing loans to coerce lenders to give loans to people that never should have been in the market for a home. That initial infusion of new buyers at the lower level pushed up the value of all homes. Therefore, the demand went up and so prices did also. That created "equity" in homes overnight. Now you're average Joe was going to upgrade from that starter home to a bigger one and the banks had no problem with providing that mortgage due to rising equity in housing, no-default guarantee from F&F, etc.
